On Monday, there were approximately fifty members of the victims’ families present in the courtroom. They were seated together in a section of the room that had been roped off. Some of the parents in the audience began crying as the prosecutor, Mike Satz, began his opening remarks by describing the crime that Cruz committed.

Alyssa Alhadeff’s parents continue to struggle to cope with the tragic loss of their daughter, which occurred during the shooting rampage at Stoneman Douglas High School. Her father’s name is Ilan Alhadeff, and her mother Lori Alhadeff, who is an activist in the United States, shares the same name.

In addition, her mother garnered national attention after making an appearance on CNN the day after the shooting in which she pleaded with President Trump to improve school safety and advocated for stricter gun control laws.

The next day, her parents attended a memorial service held for the victims the previous day at Pine Trails Park, and the next day after that, she appeared on CNN to beg President Trump to take action to tighten gun laws and improve school safety.

Lori established the non-profit organization known as Making Our Schools Safe with the intention of supplying safety elements that are specifically tailored to meet the requirements of schools.

At 2:28 in the afternoon, just seven minutes after he had entered the building, he threw the weapon away in another stairway. He made his way out of the school while attempting to blend in with the group of children who were running away.

It will be up to a jury in Florida to decide whether or not the individual who shot and killed 17 people at his old high school should face the death penalty or be sentenced to life in prison.

Nikolas Cruz, 23, entered a guilty plea to 17 counts of first-degree murder in connection with the shooting rampage that occurred in Parkland, Florida, in 2018.

While the prosecution is requesting that the defendant be executed, the defense attorneys are arguing for a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.
