According to reports, Russia has lost so many soldiers in the Ukraine war in the past 11 months that there could potentially be 150,000 total deaths by the 1-month mark of the war next month. A more conservative figure predicts 140,000 Russian soldiers dead in a month to date.

These estimates come from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Ukraine estimates that Russia lost 690 soldiers yesterday, bringing Russia’s total losses to an estimated 122,170 soldier deaths over the past 11 months.

The war between Russia and Ukraine hit its 11-month mark on Tuesday, and Russia’s casualties have continued to mount in recent months. Averaging 500-700 casualties per day, Russia could potentially lose another 15,000-21,000 casualties over the next 30 days, which could make its casualties range between 140,000-150,000 casualties since the war began on February 24, 2022.

The Defense Ministry on Sunday listed 600 Russians killed, bringing the four-day total to 2,290 Russian casualties.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during his New Year’s address to the nation that Russia was “scared” and that he felt “scared”.

“They are afraid. They can feel it. And they are right to be afraid. Because they are losing. Drones, missiles, everything else will not help them. Because we are together. And they are only together with fear,” Zelenskyj said .

Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine has now entered its 12th month, however they have been unable to take the capital Kyiv as they have been pushed back by Ukrainian fighters. Ukrainian fighters have also put up a steadfast defense in northern cities like Kharkiv, where they pushed back Russian troops towards the nearby border.

Despite many casualties in the war entering its 49th week, Russia has shifted its focus to eastern and southern Ukraine. This includes a strong presence in the Black Sea.

Ukraine is getting more support from the West, particularly the United States and Germany, for tanks and new air defense systems that can protect the country from Kh-22 missiles like those that destroyed Dnipro a week ago.

Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office said it was Russia’s 52nd Guards Bomber Regiment.

“According to preliminary information, the Kh-22 missile was deployed. This type of missile results in the greatest human casualties because the missile is extremely inaccurate, has enormous deviation. Therefore, using such weapons on targets in densely populated areas is clearly a war crime,” Ukraine’s bureau said in a Telegram post. “This type of missile was used in Sergiivka and Kremenchuk. It can be launched by a single Russian unit – the 52nd Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment.”

Many Western countries, including the United States, Germany and other allies, have started providing more tanks in support of Ukraine. That includes a bipartisan group of U.S. lawmakers urging President Joe Bidenb to suddenly seek support.
