A judge with the Denpasar High Court tragically passed away earlier this week after winning at a lawn tennis tournament, in which fellow court officers participated.

Amin Ismanto, 63, was in Semarang, Central Java earlier this weekend and competed at a tournament held by the Court People Tennis Association (PTWP). He reportedly joined the “veteran” or senior group and won his match against a fellow judge from the Yogyakarta High Court on Wednesday morning.

After winning his match, Amin then sought to watch other matches, which were held at a different venue. Sadly, he lost consciousness not long after entering his car with his colleagues.

Denpasar High Court spokesman Sumino told reporters that Amin, who looked perfectly healthy prior to passing out, was rushed to the Roemani Muhammadiyah Hospital in Semarang by his colleagues after they attempted first aid on him.

Unfortunately, Amin was pronounced dead at around 10am local time.

“His body will be sent to his birthplace, Wonogiri,” said Sumino.

Amin was remembered as a popular figure amongst judges especially due to his talent and enthusiasm for sports. He reportedly played tennis twice a week.

As a judge, Amin was most remembered for presiding over major corruption cases during his stint at the Jakarta Corruption Court.

He presided over cases such as a scandal surrounding oil and gas importation that saw the conviction of former Oil and Gas Task Force Chief Rudi Rubiandini, as well as the traffic enforcement corruption scandal that saw former Police General Djoko Susilo sent to prison.
