Camden, NJ– A man was arrested this morning and charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman in Camden on Thursday afternoon, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.

At 11:06 a.m., units from the Camden County Police Department responded to 235 Eutaw Street in Camden where they located 37-year-old Nicole Carr who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and a 61-year-old man who had been assaulted. Carr was transported to Cooper University Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 12:02 p.m., by Dr. Porter.
On Friday, May 20, 2022, the U.S. Marshals N.Y./N.J. Regional Fugitive Task Force-Camden Division contacted homicide detectives and reported that Marquis Fletcher, 36, had made contact with them and wished to surrender himself to authorities. At approximately 8:24 a.m. Fletcher was taken into custody.
Uniformed members of the Camden County Metro Police Department transported Fletcher to the Camden County Metro Police Administration Building for processing. Fletcher is currently lodged at the Camden County Correctional Facility.
This is an ongoing investigation between the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Camden County Police Department. All individuals charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
