Camden, N.J.– A 31-year-old Camden man has been charged with felony murder for the fatal shooting of Luis Morales on Tuesday morning, Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay announced.

Yaphet Norman, 31, of Camden was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon, July 20, 2022 and charged with Felony Murder. Norman is currently lodged at the Camden County Correctional Facility. All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

After receiving multiple 911 calls for reports of a robbery, officers of the Camden County Metro Police Department responded to Fortuna Grocery at Louis and Kaighn Avenue on Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 10:57 a.m.  Upon arrival, officers located a male inside of the store suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  The male was identified as 40-year-old Luis Morales.  Morales was transported by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 11:25 a.m.
